Leech & Partners started as a boutique accounting practice with a specialty in agribusiness, but with strong growth, it wasn’t long before developing an edge in commercial accounting with specialised knowledge in construction, trades, hospitality, and property.
35 years’ later and the team has grown to 50+, spread across two offices in Ashburton and Christchurch. We support clients nationwide with agriculture accounting, commercial accounting, business advisory, bookkeeping, future planning, and more.

You will provide accounting and advisory services to a portfolio of Clients, with a majority of these being in the Agri field although some exposure to commercial clients. This will include the preparation of complex:
- Financial statements, drafting and finals.
- Tax returns for Individuals, Trusts, Partnerships, Companies, and Incorporated Societies.
- GST, FBT, & RWT returns, plus preparation of dividends and/or DWT returns.
- Cashflow reports, budgets, provisional tax estimates and other advisory jobs as necessary.
Key to this role is building trusted relationships with Clients, having a deep understanding of their business. You will identify opportunities and explore better ways of doing things, providing sound advice to Clients to enhance their business.
Utilising your leadership skills, you will mentor and train junior and intermediate staff, supporting their development. You will assist in the delivery of projects and processes, actively working towards achieving firmwide goals.
You will have a relevant tertiary qualification, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Public Practice environment. You will have experience working with Agricultural clients, along with being proficient in the use of MYOB and Xero accounting systems. You will regularly use the IRD, ACC, and Companies Office websites, plus research tools to stay abreast of system and accounting changes.
Your experience will demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislation, external reporting standards 1-5, tax entity profiles, and the use of CCH electronic workpapers.
