Senior Client Manager - Ashburton Office

About us

Leech & Partners started as a boutique accounting practice with a specialty in agribusiness, but with strong growth, it wasn’t long before developing an edge in commercial accounting with specialised knowledge in construction, trades, hospitality, and property.

35 years’ later and the team has grown to 50+, spread across two offices in Ashburton and Christchurch. We support clients nationwide with agriculture accounting, commercial accounting, business advisory, bookkeeping, future planning, and more.

About the role

You will provide accounting and advisory services to a portfolio of Senior Clients, including the preparation of complex:

  • Financial statements, drafting and finals.
  • Tax returns for Individuals, Trusts, Partnerships, Companies, and Incorporated Societies.
  • GST, FBT, & RWT returns, plus preparation of dividends and/or DWT returns.
  • Cashflow reports, budgets, provisional tax estimates and other advisory jobs as necessary.

Key to this role is building trusted relationships with Clients, having a deep understanding of their business. You will identify opportunities and explore better ways of doing things, providing sound advice to Clients to enhance their business.

Utilising your leadership skills, you will mentor and train junior and intermediate staff, supporting their development. You will assist in the delivery of projects and processes, actively working towards achieving firmwide goals.

What you will bring

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Public Practice environment using accounting systems MYOB and Xero. You will regularly use the IRD, ACC, and Companies Office websites, plus research tools to stay abreast of system and accounting changes.

Your experience will demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislation, external reporting standards 1-5, tax entity profiles, and the use of CCH electronic workpapers.

To stand out from others, you will have the ability to going beyond processing of accounts, showing an understanding of the ‘why’ and demonstrating personal thought processes and ideas.

To be successful in this role, you will have strong skills in communication, problem solving, organisation, and professionalism.

Why live in Ashburton?

Ashburton is a vibrant rural support town that provides services to large catchment known as Mid Canterbury. Significant recent development (both residential and commercial) means Ashburton’s population is growing and so are the number of shops and businesses springing up around the town.

The town is large enough to provide all the necessary sporting and cultural offerings of a city but with the added advantage of being a 10 min drive from one side to the other. It’s great for raising a family or visiting friends. With a little bit less hustle and bustle and more of a focus on lifestyle, people tend to be are a little more relaxed.

Ashburton is well located with Christchurch an hour to the North, Timaru an hour to the South and Methven 30 minutes to the West. For those who like to get outdoors, Mount Hutt is an hour away and Lake Tekapo is less than two hours. There are plenty of walks, tramping, hunting etc can be carried out within a short drive from Ashburton.

Senior Client Manager - Christchurch Office
