At Leech & Partners, wellbeing is an important priority, and we were delighted to get in behind Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) again this year. This provided our team a special opportunity to come together, have fun, and support each other under this year’s theme: Top Up Together.
Each day focused on one of the Five Ways to Wellbeing: connect, give, take notice, keep learning, and be active.
We kicked off the week with a shared cultural morning tea, where we tested our knowledge of various flags. We gave back by donating items to St John, shared plenty of laughs over a coffee shout and baby photo guessing game (which was a tad awkward!), and stayed active and engaged through puzzles, games, and a step challenge.
One of the week’s standout moments was when our team swapped office attire for gumboots and gardening gloves, heading out to Darfield for a day of tree planting. We partnered with Te Ara Kākāriki, a charitable organisation, and landowners Bernard and June Duncan, with the mission to increase biodiversity across Canterbury. It was a pleasure doing our small bit, supporting their aim of creating a “greenway” – a corridor of native vegetation made up of “Greendots” that stretches between the Waimakariri and Rakaia Rivers, linking the Canterbury foothills to Lake Ellesmere and Banks Peninsula. It felt good to deepen our connection to the land, proudly planting 550 native seedlings and watering them to give them the best start.
Mental Health Awareness Week reminded us that wellbeing thrives when we support one another. Whether through shared laughter, giving back, or planting roots—literally. We’re proud of the way our team continues to top up together and with the wider community.
